நேற்று காலை ஏழு மணிக்கு ஓட்டுப்போட சென்று வரிசையில் நின்ற போது கேட்ட சில வசனங்கள்:
"They should have tested the EVM last night sir. See, i came at 6:45 and it is already 7:15 now. They said voting starts at 7 and it is already 15 minutes late."
"ஜப்பான்ல வோட்டு எப்படி போடறது அப்படின்னு ஜனங்களுக்கு சொல்லிதரா சார். என் சன் அங்க இருக்கான். லாஸ்ட் இயர் போனேன். வாட் எ கன்ட்ரி?"
"போலீஸ்காரன் எங்கயோ வாசல்ல நிக்கறான். இங்க உள்ள பிரச்சனை ஆனா என்ன பண்ணுவா?" (வாசலுக்கும் வோட்டு போடும் இடத்திற்கும் ஐம்பது மீட்டர் இடைவெளி என்பதை குறித்து கொள்ளவும்)
"The EVM is not working properly sir. They are testing our patience."
"ஒரு ஆள் வாசல்ல நின்னு எந்த கவுண்டர் அப்படின்னு வரவங்களுக்கு எக்ஸ்ப்ளைன் பண்ணனும் சார். நம்மளே ஒவ்வொரு எடமா தேட முடியுமா என்ன?"
"தமிழ்நாட்ல மனுஷத்தன்மை ஜாஸ்தி சார். அதனால பொறுமையா இருக்கோம். இந்த மாதிரி EVM வொர்க் பண்ணாம இருந்தா கொல்கத்தால இந்த இடத்தையே கொளுத்திடுவா."
Person 1 behind me: "In Chennai, which is a metro, we have problems like this(technical issues with EVM). Imagine places like Guwahati Sir.
Another person in the queue: "Sir, we have places like Guwahati in Tamilnadu also sir. The system is lousy. We cannot do anything."

The same persons will stand in US consulate from Morning 4 a.m and they will shut their * & * while waiting.. and they will complain now..
However, tamil nadu voter turnout is somewhat higher than other parts of the country, in a way that is good.
Not only consulate Gokul. We will stand in hospitals to get an appointment, school admission for our children, to get groceries at cheap rates in the ration shop, tickets for movies in theatres, bus/train ticket queues, petrol bunk, hotels and a lot more. We still consider voting as a favour that we do to politicians.
